On June 3, in response to the nationwide shortage of baby formula, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti signed a Declaration of Local Emergency.
City Attorney Mike Feuer immediately announced that his Office was prepared to fight price gouging of baby formula. Price
gouging is illegal whenever a local state of emergency has been declared. For 30 days following the declaration, it is unlawful for any person or business to sell or offer any baby or toddler formula at a price that is more than 10% higher than the price charged just prior to the emergency declaration. This includes formula purchased online and delivered to the City of Los Angeles. Review City Attorney Mike Feuer's announcement.
