COVID-19

Since the beginning of the outbreak in Los Angeles in early March, City Attorney Mike Feuer has been a national leader in grappling with the wide-array of COVID-19 related issues, including:

  • Targeting price gougers on Amazon and in brick and mortar stores;

  • Taking action against dangerous advertising claims about purported cures and fake at-home tests;

  • Forming the Joint Coronavirus Task Force with LA County District Attorney Jackie Lacey;

  • Launching #BehindClosedDoors to help victims of in-home crimes amid the crisis, namely Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Elder Abuse;

  • Partnering with Mayor Eric Garcetti on "LA Represents," an unprecedented legal assistance initiative to help thousands of Angelenos facing hardship due to the crisis;

  • Hosting the Hate Crime Prevention Forum in response to hate incidents targeting the Asian American Pacific Islander community;

  • Enforcing the Safer at Home Order for nonessential businesses.

PRICE GOUGING

It is unlawful for any food items or goods, medical supplies, services, etc., to be sold at more than 10% higher than what they were selling for
before the City of LA declared a public health emergency

on March 4.

STIMULUS CHECKS

The Federal govt. won't ask you to pay anything up front to get this money. No fees. No charges. You won't be asked to

give your Social

Security, bank account or credit

card number.

TREATMENTS AND CURES

Online scammers are selling fake cures, vaccines and giving advice on unproven treatments. Always check with your doctor or healthcare provider. Watch for fake safety products being sold too.

EMAILS, TEXTS AND ROBOCALLS

Watch for emails, texts and calls claiming to be from health or govt. officials but potentially looking to steal your credit or personal information by installing malware on your device or sell you fake cures and safety products.

IN-HOME TESTS

There are no commercially available in-home tests that you can

buy to test yourself with at home. Anyone coming to your door that you don't know, offering to test you in your house, or sell you a test, could be a burglar.

social, cuenta bancaria o tarjeta

de crédito.

TRATAMIENTO Y CURACIONES
