LOS ANGELES – A stepfather was sentenced to six years in jail for molesting his 10 year-old stepdaughter on repeated occasions over the past three years. The defendant entered a plea of no contest to seven counts of child molestation, one count of penetration with a foreign object, and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 18. He has been sentenced to six years in county jail, four years probation, lifetime sex offender registration and is prohibited from being in contact with the victim for a 10 year period.

On Feb. 6, 2013, the victim was called to the principal’s office at her school because pornography was allegedly discovered on her stepfather’s cell phone that she had taken to school. The victim alleged abuse had taken place repeatedly over the past three years, and as late as January, 2013, and law enforcement authorities were contacted. The victim was subsequently removed from the home by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services and remains in foster care.

“The young victim in this case showed extraordinary courage by coming forward and reporting this atrocious crime,” said Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer. “I pledge my office will continue to take swift action to stop abuse and find justice and relief for all victims.”

Deputy City Attorney Lara Drino Schwartz successfully prosecuted the case.
