LOS ANGELES – City Attorney Mike Feuer has announced that his Office’s Family Violence Unit has secured a conviction against Javier Santos, 30, for lewd conduct and false imprisonment of a teenage male family member with Down’s syndrome. “We must protect our children and the most vulnerable in our city from predators, including those in their own family,” said City Attorney Feuer. “My office will continue to take swift action in order to stop abuse wherever it occurs.”
Santos entered a plea of no contest to one count of lewd conduct with a minor and one count of false imprisonment. The Defendant received an agreed upon sentence of three years probation, 270 days in jail, life time sex registration, sexual offender counseling and a protective order.
The victim has the mental capacity of a 5-year-old, is unable to speak, and communicates through gestures and facial expressions.
Deputy City Attorney Lara Schwartz successfully prosecuted the case.
