Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer Secures Six Year Jail Sentence in Valley Child Abuse Case

LOS ANGELES – City Attorney Mike Feuer today announced that his office has successfully secured a six year jail sentence and mandatory sex offender registration for a 48 year old West Hills man accused of sexually abusing his 13-year old daughter.

"There is nothing more important than protecting our children from the physical and psychological scars of sexual abuse," said Feuer. "My office will continue to fight for children. I am proud of the exceptional work of Deputy City Attorney Lara Drino in prosecuting this case.”

The defendant was convicted on 17 criminal counts following a seven day jury trial including; four counts of child molestation, 12 counts of sexual battery, and one count of child abuse causing mental suffering. The defendant was sentenced to six years in jail, five years of probation, mandatory sex offender registration, mandatory sex offender counseling. A 10-year protective order was also issued by the court against the defendant.

The case involved allegations the defendant was molesting his daughter from June 2015 through January 2016 at their home in West Hills when she was 13 years old. LAPD began investigating after the victim’s friend reported she had been sending suicidal messages and was in despair about living with her father. The victim was removed from the home and is now in the care of her mother.

Deputy City Attorney Lara Drino successfully prosecuted the case.
