LOS ANGELES – City Attorney Mike Feuer announced that his office has secured another conviction against a Los Angeles man for groping five women and three girls while riding on LA Metro Buses across the city. Ager Linder, 26, was previously convicted on nine prior occasions, as recently as January of this year, for similar conduct on the Metro Red Line and other public transportation.
"Passengers on our public transit systems must be safe," said Feuer. "The defendant’s actions are outrageous and deplorable. We will do everything we can to hold him accountable and protect transit riders."
Linder entered a plea of no contest to two counts of child molestation and three counts of sexual battery and one count of battery on a public transportation passenger. Sentencing is scheduled for February 19, 2019 in Department 51 of Los Angeles Superior Court.
The City Attorney’s Office will seek a sentence of 54 months of Formal Probation through the Probation Department, one year in County jail, followed by one year of residential mental health counseling, mandatory sex offender registration, as well as a stay away order from all public transportation.
Between May and August 2018, Linder allegedly groped several women on eight separate occasions while riding Metro buses throughout the mid-city area. The eight female victims were between the ages of 15 and 27 years old. At times he would pretend to be asleep and then grab a victim. Linder is currently on probation from conviction in January for victimizing at least four women while riding the Metro Red Line. In each of those incidents, Linder would approach the victims and grab their breasts, buttocks or other body parts.
Linder’s prior convictions for groping female victims on public transportation includes: North Hollywood, Hollywood, Mid-City, Culver City; Norwalk; West L.A; and in Long Beach.
Deputy City Attorney Brad Rothenberg of Feuer’s Family Violence Unit successfully prosecuted the case.
