Yet another synagogue shooting compels us, as a nation, to come to grips with a stark choice: Either we commit to concrete action—both to curb gun violence, and to bind us together as one people—or we consign ourselves to relive again and again how the lethal combination of guns and hate rips families and communities apart. There is, of course, only one choice. The time for action, on both fronts, is now. And our challenge is clear: finally to muster the courage and the will to confront the gun violence that threatens our lives and the toxicity that debases our culture.
