FEUER FILES CHARGES AGAINST TEACHER’S AIDE FOR ALLEGED BATTERY AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT

Los Angeles—City Attorney Mike Feuer has filed criminal charges against an LAUSD special education teacher’s aide for allegedly assaulting students and staff at Van Nuys Elementary School on Monday.


Feuer filed three counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of child endangerment against Linda Hovanec (DOB: 6/14/1958). Hovanec allegedly caused a disturbance in the classroom, shoving tables and throwing chairs which resulted in the injury of two students.


Feuer has made protecting children a central tenet of his administration and among his many youth focused initiatives he created the new position of School Safety Coordinator.


Hovanec was arraigned Wednesday in Dept. 101 and pled not guilty. Trial is set for June 23 in Dept. 105, with a bail review date set June 11. Bail is set at $30,000.


Deputy City Attorney Bob Orlich is prosecuting the case.
