LOS ANGELES CITY ATTORNEY SUES BANK OF AMERICA ALLEGING DISTRIMINATORY MORTGAGE LENDING

Updated: Mar 17

Los Angeles - On the heels of filing similar cases Thursday, City Attorney Mike Feuer today has filed a third suit alleging discriminatory mortgage lending in the City's minority communities, which the City contends led to a wave of foreclosures that continues to diminish the City's property tax revenues and increase the need for, and the costs of, City services.

In the complaint filed today in U.S. Federal Court, the City alleges that Bank of America, "... engaged in a continuous pattern and practice of mortgage discrimination in Los Angeles since at lease 2004 by imposing different terms or conditions on a discriminatory and legally prohibited basis."

Thursday Feuer filed suit against Citigroup and Wells Fargo also alleging discriminatory mortgage lending in the City's minority communities.
