PROTECTING SENIORS

Protecting those most often targeted for abuse, exploitation, and fraud is of paramount importance to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. Sadly, older adults are seen by criminals as targets who are particularly ripe for victimization.

In recognition of the unique threat posed by criminals to older adults, the City Attorney’s Office works to protect them and to aggressively target and prosecute those who would harm them physically or fiscally.

The City Attorney’s Office also works in partnership with the L.A. Elders at Risk Task Force and L.A. County Elder Abuse Forensic Center which engages public and community-based organizations in an effort to increase prosecutions for crimes against older adults.

"We've launched a multi-pronged effort to give seniors the tools to thwart scam artists, surf the web safely and feel empowered to use cyber technology without fear."
